Alpamayo wins in Medellín, Colombia

Alpamayo’s participation in the twenty-eighth edition of the Alcázares International Cup was a success. This year, 43 athletes were selected to represent our school. Beyond what they gained in the sports competition itself, we saw 43 of our very own return more responsible, more mature, and better prepared students to tackle the year ahead of them.

The preparation was arduous and demanding. It began early last year and continued during the summer vacation in order to have the students in the best possible conditions for this great event, which takes place in Medellin, Colombia, with the participation of many South American schools.

We are really pleased with the way our boys performed in the tournament, but there are a few standout performances we would like to highlight.

In table tennis, our team earned first place in the team tournament, while Edgar Mejía and Nicolás Blanco won first and second place for individual performances, respectively. Our soccer team came away with 2nd place, with Gonzalo Pérez Galbis named the Player of the Tournament. Second place was also awarded to our basketball team and chess team. In chess, Emilio Campoverde was awarded the prize of Best Tournament Player.

In track and field, Diego Obregón won first place for high jump, Marko Pandzic won third place for long jump, Salvador Iglesias won third place in 60 meter hurdle, and our 4 x 70 meters relay team-- Salvador Iglesias, Marco Pandzic, Joaquín de Lama, and Jaime Pérez--won third place.
