Rodolfo Chang and Diego Parodi, both Seniors this year, provided a breath of fresh air as hosts of this year’s Family Fun Day. With the assistance of our very own theater teacher, Mr. Jorge Mena, playing the role of Mr. Off, the booming voice heard offstage, this year’s entertainment was as energetic as it was original.
The crowd favorite, Tagadisco, had an unimaginable line into the night. To add to the excitement of this ride, our Headmaster, Renzo Forlin, declared that the ride would be free for all of our Seniors.
The Tómbola had so many prizes that it seemed to be endless. With the prizes ranging from iPads, televisions and bicycles, everyone was able to take home something special. Every Wednesday leading up to the event, Calo Malca strived to make this year’s Tómbola the most successful yet. With the help of a group of enthusiastic mothers, she took charge to ensure that the whole Alpamayo community could prepare for the high demand on the day of the event.
Father Pablo deserves a special mention. He made two delicious paellas, which sold out in no time.
The performances by the finalists of Alpamayo’s Got Talent charmed the audience. The singer Wayo and our music teachers were responsible for getting them ready for the big day.
The youngest kids in our school, the students from first, second, and third grade, had all the parents in front of the stage with their cameras and iPads. First grade presented Shararitas de Áncash and Carnaval de Cuchumbaby de Moquegua dances while second graders showed us Añu Tarpuy de Arequipa and Añu de Sinkuy de Cusco. The third graders surprised everyone with Wifala de Ispacas de Arequipa and Huayruro de Huánuco. Elementary teachers Christian Carrillo, Miguel Loayza, and Elio Rodas were responsible for bringing this joyful part of the show to fruition.
Alpamayo’s Family Fun Day also thought about the bigger members of the family and towards the end of the night, the adults were rewarded with a wonderful concert by the band OIM, with music from the 80s and 90s, but also original music under the direction of Jorge Díaz, an Alpamayo dad.
Throughout the day, raffle prizes were awarded including a trip with Royal Caribbean and dinner for the whole family. The whole day was finally topped off by the orchestra Fallo Muñoz with there spectacular musical presentation.
